Apple iPad 32GB Review
Apple released its iPad in April 2010, and the launch of this product could have been equated to any great event in history. Whether the launch of the iPad can be equivalent to such greatness remains to be seen. The Apple iPad is a previously unheard of device. It doesn’t claim to be the be all and end all of everything great, but it does combine your laptop, ipod, PSP, and smart phone so cleverly into a small little 8 x 13 mm tablet.
Apple iPad 32GB WiFi Specification
The Apple iPad is 9.7 inches (242.8 mm). Its width is 7.47 inches (189.7 mm) and weighs 1.5 pounds (0.68 kg). It has a 256MiB RAM, 768 x 1024 pixel resolution at 132 pixels per inch, fingerprint resistant oleo-phobic coating and a 3.5mm audio jack. The iPad also has a 1GHz Apple A4 custom-designed, high performance processor. It also has an accelerometer and an ambient light sensor.
Apple iTunes
When you turn on the iPad you are immediately prompted to connect to iTunes. This device makes the setting up process an easy one, but it does have some glitches. After iTunes is set up then you can begin syncing music, photos and videos onto the iPad. The iPad has an option where it is possible to convert higher bit rate songs to kbps. Apart from this aids such as white on black text display, zoom, voice overs and mono audio are available.
iPad 32GB Design Features
The Apple iPad 32GB WiFi has a 9.7 inch LED widescreen with multi touch display. It has a black groove which provides a resting place for the users fingers. A cool thing about the iPad is that its screen is easily visible from every possible angle. The iPad has aluminum pieces on the sides and the back which gives it a look that will stop anyone in their tracks. However the aluminum body can get scratched easily and even a small scratch is easily visible. This therefore spoils the whole look of the iPad. Since the device has such a large screen one of the main concerns is the screen cracking. However one advantage is that the device is not slippery. On the other hand the iPad does accumulate many fingerprints quickly, which could make it look quite unattractive.
The iPad feels familiar because it is a mixture of many devices we use such as the iPod, iPhone and laptop. Due to this most of the internals are similar to the other devices. It uses in-plane switching technology which helps it achieve better color and contrast. This screen is perfect for watching videos and movies and it gives you a feeling unlike any other. The iPad runs on a CPU which was specially designed for it by Apple. Apart from this it has a dock connector port and a micro-Sim card tray. The device also has a built in speaker and a microphone, though the speaker sound is not very loud.
iBooks
iBooks is another feature that is available on the iPad. With this you can access every book possible. iBooks is one of the most popular features of the iPad. Apart from being an iBook reader it also allows you to browse and shop for books day or night. With the simple touch of a button thousands of books are reveled, so you can browse them-most for free. Tap the book to get a preview of it and then all you need to do is download it. It also allows you to scan through pages, zoom and add bookmarks. The LED backlit screen displays each page clearly and it also allows you to adjust the brightness. This device gives you a feeling of having an actual book in your hand. This coupled with the page flipping animation makes this feature an unforgettable one.
Wi-Fi Connectivity
The iPad has Wi-Fi connectivity and is very useful when your not within range of a Wi-Fi network. Setting up the Wi-Fi connection is very simple and only takes a few minutes. All that you need to do is search for networks and your network will be set automatically. If you have a network password that will need to be entered before the set up process begins. Unlike the iPhone whose connection drops ever so often, the iPad does not have this problem.
The Multi Touch Screen
The multi touch screen of the iPad is similar to that of the iPhone, but it has been slightly reengineered for a larger surface thus making it much more sensitive. So, if you are zooming in on a book or just browsing the iPad responds precisely. On the other hand, the virtual keyboard can take some getting used to due to its sensitivity. Like the iPhone, the iPad lacks a physical keyboard and the built-in on-screen keyboard could do with some improvement.
Battery Life
The device has a built in 25 watt hour rechargeable lithium polymer battery. The battery life is one of the most surprising features of the iPad. It can run for two days and still have battery left even after being used for watching movies, listening to music and playing games.
Conclusion
Many people refer to the iPad as a magical device, but thats not the case. The iPad is just a mixture of many devices, which help us to carry out our everyday activities faster and more easily. The question on everyone’s mind is “can the iPad replace a laptop?” . Its lack of file level control means that it cant replace a laptop when it comes to core productivity activities. However it does prove to be very efficient when it comes to reading emails, surfing the web, watching movies or videos and so on. So only time will tell us what the future of this gadget holds. In spite of the iPad being so popular it can still improve in some areas, but all in all it isn’t just the best device, its a whole new revolution.
