The ipad is the latest up, and coming device that could possibly replace many existing netbooks. The launch of the product is probably the making or breaking point of an entirely new class of computers. It works great for net surfing, listening to music and reading books, but on the flip side it is not easily affordable.

iPad Features

Like the iphones, the higher end ipads use 3G wireless hardware which allows you to access cell phone towers, therefore radically expanding the ipads on-the-road utility.  Need maps, restaurant names, connecting to friends via Face book.  All this can be done with the ipad, and the best part is the ipad is larger than an iphone and smaller than a laptop.  Anything which can be done with Wifi can be done with a 3G connection. Well almost anything. In truth the ipad 3G mode does not really meet up to the required standard of marketing.

The ipad has Wifi connectivity with a 1GHz Apple A4 CPU and a 9.7-inch LED backlit screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768 and has 16 GB of storage. Apart from this it has a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a mic and a micro sim card slot. The ipad measures 9.56 x 7.47 x 0.5 and weighs 1.5 pounds and has a 25 WH battery.

The ipad and iphone are similar in most ways. The ipad has a large screen which is coated with fingerprint resistance, much like the iphone. It has an accelerometer for playing games, changing wallpapers, it also has light sensors for adjusting the brightness of the screen. The best part about the ipad is there is no necessity to scroll 90% of the websites because the screen is so large and the fonts are readable. It has low pixel density when compared to smart phones, but its still sharp and colorful.

IBooks:

The ibook is one of the most amazing applications of the ipad. IBooks can be downloaded easily and they are readable. All functions like copy and paste, brightness, font size, bookmarks and search options are available at the top of the screen. The ibook reading experience is very cool and it gives you the feeling that you have an actual volume in your hand.

Wifi connectivity:

The Wifi connectivity for the ipad is simple. You only need to activate Wifi and search for networks. Network password will need to be entered if you use one. Automatically network will be set up. Unlike the iphone the ipad Wifi connection only takes a few minutes.

Movies and music:

The ipad is perfect for watching movies or videos on You tube. With its wide screen, the ipad makes the experience a truly remarkable one. Where music is concerned iTunes is required for setting and once it is registered it can be synced to the ipad. ABC player which is an on-demand TV application is also available. It allows you to watch HD episodes of ABC’s biggest series absolutely free. After watching serials on the ipad, there is a good chance that you will hardly watch TV again.

Keypad:

The ipad keys are large and well spaced which allows the typing speed to be as fast as that on a computer. The only downside is the auto correction feature which changes most technical terms that are typed.

When compared to the iphone, the accelerometer is much faster and more sensitive. Racing is amazing, especially that of 3D and it makes the ipad a virtual steering wheel. The graphics aren’t quite as good as a PSP, but the game play can become very addictive, especially with the power ups, skins and tunes.

Battery:

The battery life is the best part of the ipad. It consumes very little power and thus does not drain much battery. The ipad can run all day with many people using it for games, surfing and much more. If it is not used continuously it can last up to 2 days. However, the battery is not user replaceable and like most batteries, it may lose its charge capabilities or simply die.

The ipad is a sleek and powerful device which helps us to do everyday stuff faster. Its a revolutionary idea by Apple and although there is a lot of room for improvement it still rules the market for the upper elite.
